Ice Retention

We here at Maple Mountain always recommend using a 2:1 ice to can ratio by volume, to maximize the performance of your cooler.

Unfortunately, that's a question we won't really have an answer for as there are so many factors to consider. The estimates we have given are based on ideal conditions, with the correct amount of ice. If you leave your cooler in the hot sun all day in the middle of the Mojave Desert, and open it every 5 minutes, the ice will melt quicker.

Using a pre chilled cooler is a great start, this will ensure the ice won't begin melting due to the heat already built up on the inside of the cooler.

If possible try to avoid direct sunlight.

Fill up the cooler with a 2:1 ice to can ratio by volume.

This means for every can of beer you will essentially need to put 2 "cans" worth of ice in the cooler.

In other terms, a case of beer is 8.5L, so with the correct ratio you will have 17L of ice to your 8.5L of beer.
